Common Ankle Injuries We Treat
Lateral Ankle Sprains
The most common of all ankle injuries, but commonly under-treated. These injuries usually return to sport quickly but have a 40% recurrence rate. Let us help you reduce that risk with elite sports physiotherapy.
Syndesmosis Injury
An high-ankle injury that is not to be missed. This affects ligaments slightly higher in the ankle and can result in some pretty uncomfortable instability. An accurate diagnosis and tailored management plan is key.
Achilles Tendinopathy
Whether you are an avid runner in the Campbelltown Joggers or simply playing over 35’s soccer, Achilles tendinopathy can be a nagging pain in the rear of your ankle. A dedicated exercise program from your trusted physio can help you overcome these niggles.
Chronic Ankle Instability
The long term consequence of under-treated Ankle sprains. Our physios are expertly trained at identifying the structural causes and functional weaknesses that we can help improve - bringing back a sense of stability in your life.
Post-Fracture or Post-Surgery Rehab
Rehab following an Ankle Fracture or getting you back to your Sport/Activity of choice following an Achilles tendon rupture is a marathon not a sprint. Guiding you through the process with our vast clinical experience will ensure a quality outcome for all.
Peroneal Tendon Issues
A lesser known condition that can come from overuse or weak muscles through the lower limb, or simply the legacy of a large ankle sprain. A thorough and detailed assessment will help you get back on track.

Strength & Balance Programming
This is the most critical step. We'll prescribe a tailored program of strengthening and proprioception (balance) exercises to rebuild stability and prevent future sprains.
Return-to-Sport Testing
We'll put you through sport-specific drills (hopping, landing, cutting) and use innovative technology for strength and movement measures to ensure your ankle is 100% ready for the demands of your sport, whether it's on the fields of Oran Park or the courts of Ingleburn.

Rather than going by timeframes, return to sport time lengths are often determined by criteria of a certain level of movement and strength you need to have, specific to the type of sport you are returning to. We’ll make sure you’re ready to return and give you realistic expectations based on your specific injury.

Depending on the extent of your injury, some people may need to wear an ankle brace or a CAM boot for a short period of time. Taping and bracing may be used in the short term when returning to sport, but in the long term, sufficient rehabilitation should mean you can play sport without the need for a brace. Your physiotherapist will be able to provide advice as to whether a brace will be suitable for you.
